For European and in particular for British travelers who came to visit Sicily in the 1700s, the island appeared as an unknown pearl, where the dazzling sun merged with the green and blue sea, where the color of the earth contrasted with the natural beauty of the sky. The Greek and Roman ruins were, and are, there to witness these ancient civilizations, now lost in time, and they were fascinated.
Here is the stone, the old word is LITHOS, which has always been a protagonist in Sicily like water, earth and fire.
After gentle pressing the must stays for maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (24/25 °C) for over 20 days. Follows a wood aging period of at least 6 months in barrique and finally a bottle aging period of at least 3 months.
This wine has an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. On the nose pleasant sensations of plum and red fruit jam, combined with extraordinary spicy hints that recall above all pepper and vanilla. On the palate it is round, powerful and charming, with firm but not aggressive tannins. It stands out for its very elegant aromatic and persistent final.
