Maria Costanza red
APPELLATION: Protected Designation OF ORIGIN (DOP)
GRAPE VARIETY: nero d’avola
The Maria Costanza Rosso is an intense expression of Milazzo’s way of interpreting the truly Sicilian grapevine, the NERO D’AVOLA.
The bunches are selected on the plant and harvested by hand in small 14 kg boxes. The grapes are then delicately shelled and after further manual selection they are transferred to horizontal and vertical fermentation tanks where, after a 15-day maceration, the alcoholic fermentation is completed. Malolactic fermentation is carried out for about 18 months partly in oak barriques and partly in steel. Final refining in the bottle.
This wine has an intense red color with purple reflections. On the nose, evident floral and fruity scents reminding morello cherries. It closes with spices and aromatic vegetables such as nettle and fig leaf. In the mouth it is soft, elegant and velvety with an exceptional persistence.
