APPELLATION: DENOMINATION OF CONTROLLED ORIGIN (DOC)
GRAPE VARIETY: 100% AGLIANICO NERO IN PURITY
This unique wine is made from pure Aglianico Nero grapes, grown on volcanic lands in the Valle del Ceraso and Fontana Marena districts, in the countryside of Paternopoli ( colli Taurasini area), and unusually harvested in November. Macerated and fermented with its own yeasts, this wine is aged oak wood barrels for a year and a half, and then rests in bottle for at least six months to fully mature. It is a generous wine retaining its most authentic organoleptic values.
Mario Ercolino, the world recognized wine maker and owner of NATIV winery, says about his masterpiece: “For me this wine is impenetrable, robust, sturdy, bold, slightly bitter acid. It can be sharp but at times velvety, with "character" as an Aglianico wine is used to be and should be. Years, decades of experience and work and then suddenly you understand in a single instant, with deep awareness and ancestral instinct, that such dense, bluish-red, dark fluid, with a magic and inebriant bouquet, born from the harmonious movement in the vat and then from a slow evolution in small barriques is ... your perfect wine ".
Grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small boxes of 20 kg each to the winery where they are subject to light pressing of the whole bunches. Follows a cold static clarification. Fermentation is conducted with selected yeast strains. The wine is then transferred in new French oak barrels of 225hl for 18 months followed by 6 months in bottle.
This wine is very well structured on the palate, dense and persistent. On the nose it has aromas of ripe red fruits, cherries, plums, currant, blackberries, chocolate and spices. The barrel aging supports the wine with additional character without covering the original aromas.
