The winery
The most interesting aspect of the Milazzo family's way of "making wine" is the tireless work in the vineyard. The natural improvement of the vines is the result of a technical process that has been going on for over fifty years. It is the search for the perfect combination of selection of clones and biotypes, choice of land according to the characteristics of the microclimate in each district of the estate. The BIO certification seals the commitment that they have always put in place as winegrowers to produce quality and is also testimony to the responsibility that they feel they are guardians of the environment in which they operate.
Story
For the Milazzo family, producing wines is a real “family matter” which made them the first producers of classic method sparkling wines in Sicily, which is one of the specialties of this winery that brought to Milazzo several national and international prizes. The journey of the Milazzo winery started five generations ago and is now continued by Giuseppina Milazzo and Saverio Lo Leggio, a couple in life and united in the desire to give continuity to Milazzo production, with the aim of further improving the company’s tradition introducing innovation and attention to environment to produce excellent wines.
The Estate
A unique and inimitable terroir. At 400 m. above sea level in the heart of Sicily, on the hills northeast of Campobello di Licata (Agrigento). Here are the 75 hectares of vineyards owned by the Milazzo family. The climatic characteristics of the hill and the morphology of the soil integrate, with aromatic finesse and freshness, the maturity and structure guaranteed by a climate that is however inserted in a Mediterranean context.
The Cellar
Each of the MILAZZO’s wines has a unique and distinctive character. From their production Bottega Vini chose some of the most representative wines that best represent tradition as well as modernity of Sicilian wines. Besides some of their best red wines, Maria Costanza Rosso and the precious Duca di Montalbo, we propose some of their white and rose’ wines, Maria Costanza Bianco, Terre della Baronia Bianco e Rose’, and of course one of their most representative Classic Method sparkling wines, “Nature”. Of course their cellar offers many additional excellent wines and first class sparkling wines that we aim to bring to the attention of our customers with the coming shipments.
